Maritza Figueroa, President
Maritza received her B.S. in Human Services and Management. Her career started when she began working with inner city children at All Saints Episcopal Church in Hoboken, NJ where she also founded a summer camp that focused on providing a positive and encouraging environment for the youth. Maritza then moved to Central Florida with her three children where she immediately became involved in community efforts to create better lives for children and families. Her involvement led to a state certification in Mental Health Behavioral Tech, which helped employ her at Park Place as a Behavioral Tech. She was quickly promoted to weekend supervisor. When Park Pace underwent a change by extending their services to Sunnyside Group Homes, Maritza was promoted to Campus Supervisor managing a specialized therapeutic group home and two residential group homes. After just one year, Maritza’s hard work, consistency, and passion earned her the Program Manager position overseeing the daily operations of Sunnyside. There, Maritza worked closely with the organizations clinical team assuring proper care for all of their youth. Maritza has family teaching experience and is certified to train the community on awareness and prevention of human trafficking.
Tellis Copeland, Program Coordinator
Tellis attended Jackson High School (Miami, FL) where he earned an athletic scholarship to Kentucky State University. Following his collegiate and athletic career, Tellis known as Mr. T could not ignore his passion for inspiring and helping youth. he earned a number of certifications with the Department if Juvenile Justice as an instructor in the area of "Use of Force & PAR". He then began supervising High Risk Commitment programs and Children and Family Group Homes. He also served as a lifestyle trainer to street gang members, teaching them how to work toward and maintain a healthy life without gang violence. Tellis then utilized his teaching/training skills in the area of substance abuse and mental health behaviors after earning certificates in that arena. Mr. T has also coached football at the high school level and founded an AAU team in Orlando, FL. For over 30 years, he has combined his passion for sports and youth mentorship.
